Downey Street Events was started by Lauren Geissler and Emily de Ayora, two best friends who met while attending Stanford Law School. While they both spent much of their time planning events, they didn’t consider turning event planning into a career. Instead their talents manifested themselves in elegant dinner parties, elaborately painted Christmas cookies, fine art and music, and meticulously run fundraisers and campaigns.
In 2008 while working at law firms in the Bay Area, Lauren and Emily planned and designed Lauren’s wedding. They fell in love with the process and saw an opening in the industry for an uber professional high tech event planning firm. Downey Street Events was born, and booked a full schedule of events within the first several months of business.
The company continued to grow and today still operates under the same ethos: bringing the same level of professionalism that you would expect from your lawyer to the wedding planning process. Now owned and managed by Kelsey Connely and with over a decade of experience, Downey Street Events is now recognized as one of the best wedding and event planning and design companies in California. Chloe’s appreciation for events and curated experiences began at a relatively young age. Hospitality and taking care of people have always been some of her top priorities, and her upbringing in a small Texas town brought out a sense of community and drive for connection, taking the phrase “southern hospitality” to heart as truth.
A passion for global event management led to a graduate degree in International Relations + Global Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, followed by a nearly decade long career in the music industry for top names such as SXSW and Lollapalooza. Chloé has experience project managing music festivals and booking artists for concert venues domestically and internationally for some of the top entertainment companies. Her mission for events is to create a memorable and enjoyable experience in the planning process, and for guests to see, experience, and feel that from the time they arrive to the time they leave. Creating an environment that is authentic to the clients’ vision and the setting, while elevating the experience through well curated details and original designs is an added bonus and goal.
When she’s not planning weddings, you can find her trying new restaurants and cocktail bars, going to shows, researching the next travel destination, trying to improve her golf game, making terrible puns, and spending time with her mini dachshund, Samantha Jones (yes, that’s her legal name).

Melanie is the owner and CEO of Glow Events, a women-owned & women-run boutique event agency with a focus on strategic design. Over the past 15+ years, Glow has produced hundreds of events in the U.S. and internationally for a wide range of clients from Fortune 500 companies to intimate social soirees, each with its own unique design. Prior to Glow, Melanie was with Access, a premier DMC, and also worked in events for a variety of start-ups and non-profits. Melanie’s work has been featured in international magazines, podcasts, and blogs, making Glow Events a sought-after planning agency. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University.
