Here are Sacramento, California’s top five Nurseries! Experience the best in local artistry, showcasing exceptional skill, creativity, and innovation that make them stand out. Let’s explore the finest Nursery excellence Sacramento has to offer.

1. The Plant Foundry Nursery & Store

The Plant Foundry Nursery & Store is a woman-owned urban nursery in Sacramento’s Triangle Shopping District in North Oak Park. Our focus is organic plants and supplies, edible gardening, gifts, greeting cards, books and decor, Fermob outdoor furniture, statuary and pottery, popular and unusual landscape plants, houseplants, water-wise plants and California natives.

The Plant Foundry is a place where the art and science of gardening work together; a place where city living hasn’t forgotten country life. The Plant Foundry recognizes that no matter how close to the urban core one lives– plants, people and wildlife are all part of the same community.

We are committed to sharing our love and knowledge of plants with people at all stages of the gardening journey, from complete beginner to avid gardener. We may be trained horticulturists with demanding standards, but we haven’t forgotten the simple joy of sprouting our first sunflower in a Dixie cup. Or keeping our first apartment patio plant alive. Or sharing a laugh and a cutting or two with a neighbor over the back fence.

Gardening means different things to different people. For some, it’s about the satisfaction of doing good, hard, sweaty work. For others, “to garden” means parking it in a lounge chair while lifting nothing but a book and a beverage.

At times, the garden is a place of community and celebration. It’s also a place where our cats lounge and our dogs reign supreme; or maybe the other way around.

At The Plant Foundry, we want to share the joy gardening brings to us, and we want to help you find bliss in your own garden.

2. Green Acres Nursery & Supply

Green Acres Nursery & Supply is your local, independent garden center. In 2003, we opened up our first garden center in Roseville, California. Since then, we’ve expanded to include a total of seven locations in the greater Sacramento area, and we’ve expanded to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas.

If you’ve visited our garden centers, you know that each has its own personality. We often receive feedback from our customers who enjoy shopping outside of their “neighborhood” Green Acres store to explore one of our other locations. And, although we offer many varieties of common plants, our buyers enjoy selecting unique plants and products that set us apart from our competitors. We research and source the best products, using local vendors whenever possible.

We are a passionate bunch of plant nerds and we’re committed to the gardening success of our customers. Our staff is available to diagnose pests and diseases, and will prescribe solutions that work for you. Your success is our priority, that’s why we provide quality products at a great value, delivered with good, old-fashioned service. We’ll load your plants, heft your soil, bag your Christmas tree, and tie it to the top of your car for a safe ride home.

Along with the plant nursery, Green Acres offers all things needed to create a beautiful outdoor space, including pottery, lighting, and supplies for irrigation, landscape, ponds and fountains. Our Outdoor Living departments offer an extensive line of quality patio furniture and grills from trusted manufacturers. Looking for patio umbrellas, garden décor, and other accessories? We have those too.

Throughout the year we host both educational and family-fun events to show appreciation to our customers and the community.

4. The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden is built on the principles of offering quality products and providing reliable service.

Family owned and operated, The Secret Garden has been serving The Sacramento area since 2002. We pride ourselves on making a distinctive and substantial impact on our clients. We are not just a locally owned business, we’re a part of the community. We are a family and no doubt you’ll meet our grown children around the shop. We gladly live by the “Shop Local” philosophy and support other businesses in the area. It is because we know what it takes to be a family in today’s fast paced world that we continue to bring our customers quality products at competitive prices and then back that up with exceptional service.

At The Secret Garden, sustainability is one of our highest priorities. Nature is not only our job, but our passion! We strive daily to demonstrate and encourage others to practice environmental stewardship.

We do this by…
carrying primarily water-wise plants that are best suited to thrive in our hot/dry Sacramento climate.
choosing to landscape the nursery with decomposed granite instead of pavement to allow water to be absorbed back into the water table *yes, this means it gets dusty, but to us it’s worth it*.
practicing integrated pest-management and only using organic insect control and organic fertilizers.
offering recycling and refilling programs for select products to minimize waste of plastic and glass containers.
The Secret Garden offers a wide range of products from all over the globe. With that said, we make a conscious effort to showcase products that are made in the USA whenever possible. From windchimes to fountains, plant picks to candles; we’re happy to introduce you to quality products made in the USA, in California, and often right here in Sacramento.
