Our wellness team now includes mental health, weight management, nutrition, CGM, endocrinology, pain management, and fertility specialists.

How it Works
First and foremost, we are not a one-size fits all model. When it comes to your health, your needs are unique. We understand that. Accordingly, the first step is booking a new patient appointment with the provider of your choice. In that first appointment we will try to really get to know you. We’ll develop a plan for your success, which we’ll modify over time based on the results. Some things to highlight:

1-on-1
Our counseling is always 1-on-1. The first session will be lengthy, with follow ups varying in time and frequency based on your personal plan.

Virtual
Services are 100% virtual, so you can take the sessions from the convenience of your home or on-the-go!

Clinically Based
Our wellness practices are clinically based and we will work with your primary care provider, if requested or appropriate.

Insurance Accepted
Most insurances are accepted. See our insurance page for more details. We also accept credit card for those not using insurance.

3. b balanced

Improve Your Health,, Improve Your Life.
Health is when all of the parts of your body are functioning and coordinating as they’re meant to do. Contrary to popular belief, the absence of symptoms does not necessarily indicate health. Our bodies are very resilient and can put up with a lot before letting us know that something is wrong. Once we start to notice the symptoms, however, we are usually no longer at the beginning of an imbalance or illness – we’re already farther down the path to degeneration.

Vibrant health is your birthright. It is never too late to recover it!

Birgit Witherspoon, MS, HHC

Birgit’s mom used to say that she was born astride a horse. Growing up in a small village in Germany, she was surrounded by farms, ranches and lots of horses! Her favorite way to spend her time was to tell stories to her neighbor’s herd of 15 Shetland ponies (known to be quite a fierce breed) – and she was only 3 years old! It soon became clear that Birgit had a way with horses that could only be explained by the fact that she listened to them and intuited what they needed and wanted.

Birgit also witnessed her mother’s struggle to be healthy. They had well balanced, home-cooked meals every day, with sweets only as an occasional treat. Nevertheless, her mother was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, high cholesterol, insomnia, cardiovascular disease and more. She was taking 27 medications and still did not feel well, but she never gave up. On her own, she tinkered with holistic modalities and took care of herself with regular massages, chiropractic care, and other approaches, but she also never gave up her medication regimen. Ultimately, she never found the underlying cause for her continuing health issues.

In her 30s Birgit moved to Atlanta, where she worked as a manager for McDonald’s Corp. – believe it or not! This was her introduction to how the food industry worries more about its profits than the quality of its products and what effect those products have on those who eat them.

This fast-food lifestyle opened her eyes to our nation’s many health issues. After moving to San Diego in 2001, Birgit made some personal changes in her life that put her back on the path to her childhood roots in healing. She went back to school and continued her education at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. Upon graduation, she founded b balanced – San Diego Nutritionist and has never looked back!
