Established in 1905, Long’s Gardens has deep roots in Boulder, Colorado—both literally and historically. What began as a modest seed department in a local variety store has blossomed into a multigenerational family-run farm known for its exceptional iris cultivation and enduring community presence.

Set on its original North Broadway location since 1916, Long’s Gardens has adapted and thrived through decades of change, transitioning from a downtown retail shop to a centrally located working farm. Built on a legacy of resilience, innovation, and dedication to sustainable horticulture, the farm continues to be operated by the Long family today.

Our Services

At Long’s Gardens, we specialize in more than just cultivating world-class iris—we cultivate beauty, tradition, and community. Our services include:

• Iris Cultivation & Sales: With decades of experience and a renowned reputation, we grow and sell an extensive collection of bearded iris in a wide range of colors and varieties. Each bloom is field-grown on our historic Boulder farm.
• Mail-Order Plants: Can’t visit in person? No problem. Our iris rhizomes are available through our seasonal mail-order catalog, delivered fresh from our fields to your doorstep.
• Seasonal Bloom Walks: During peak bloom season, we welcome the public to stroll through our blooming iris fields. It’s a unique and breathtaking way to experience the living legacy of Long’s Gardens.
• Educational Outreach: We proudly share our knowledge through workshops, events, and collaborations with local schools and organizations, fostering a love for gardening and sustainability.
