Moon Valley Nurseries wasn’t always the largest box tree grower in America, we came from incredibly humble roots. Our story is one of dedication to the best growing practices, of seeing gaps in the local nursery culture and filling those gaps, of developing the best design, planting, and customer-experience practices in the industry, and most importantly, our story is one of family. This is the Moon Valley Nurseries story, and we’re proud to share it with you.
In 1994, a modest pumpkin patch was born in Phoenix, Arizona, with the focus of growing the best pumpkins the Valley has seen. With quick success and a “can-do” attitude, that modest pumpkin patch turned into a Christmas tree lot by the time winter showed up. By settling for nothing less than perfect and providing the best Christmas trees in town, success was again quickly found.
Taking all of the learnings from the pumpkin patch and Christmas tree lots, Moon Valley Nurseries was established in 1995 in the heart of Phoenix's Moon Valley neighbourhood with a straightforward idea: deliver high-quality trees and plants to our valued neighbours in the most efficient manner, while committing to eco-friendly, water-wise practices for desert growing.
Since then, the first Moon Valley Nurseries location has been operating today with 45+ sister stores across the United States, and to this day, we continue to hearken back to our beginnings by opening numerous Christmas tree lots every year to celebrate the tradition we were built on.
