Description

The Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Connecticut, was the home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens and his family from 1874 to 1891. The Clemens family had it designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter and built in the America High Gothic style.

The Hartford home of Samuel Clemens, AKA Mark Twain, one of America's greatest writers and social critics. Twain lived in this house from 1874-1891, and wrote some of his best-known works here, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Prince and the Pauper, Life on the Mississippi, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, A Tramp Abroad, and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. House is shown only by guided tours offered daily.

We also host numerous programs and events throughout the year, including some of the country's best-known authors and lecturers.
