Ingredients

  • 1 kg of fish
  • 2 cubes of bouillon cubes
  • 500g of peeled yam
  • 1 cup (0.24 l) of fresh or dried oziza leaf
  • 1 cup (0.24 l) of crayfish
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper soup spice
  • A tablespoon of chopped scotch bonnets pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped onions.

The whitish dirt (step one)

Do you know catfish have a whitish color on their skin that is a result of living water? This dirt can be washed when using hot but not boiled water into the fish, to leave for 5 minutes. The whitish dirt will appear in the water. Remove it from the water and wash it in cold water to remove the dirt, and then set it aside.

Mix it up (step two)

Fill your cooking pot with 1 liter of water, add your pepper, pepper soup spice, bouillon cubes, salt, and onions, and leave to boil for 3 minutes before adding your fish and cooking for 7 minutes.

The delicious whitish color (step three)

Cook your yam in a separate pot and blend it or pond it until it is smooth. Then, with a teaspoon at a separate angle from the pot, transfer it to your cooking soup and cook for about 6 minutes. Gently mix it on the heat after this and add your Oziza leaf, then leave for just three minutes on a low heat, and your catfish white soup (Ofe Nsala ) is ready.
